Lee I was so sorry to hear of Ferd's passing. I'm sure he will be greatly missed. I wish I could be there for the funeral but I will be traveling from Ohio to Coudersport that day. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Dear Wayne & family; My family and I are so very, very sorry to learn of your loss. My mom (Jane Austin), myself and various members of my family, fondly remember my dad (Wayne Austin, deceased) coming home from his Ag meetings and regaling us with stories, jokes or just some funny comment from a man he fondly called "Irish". I don't think most of us knew "Ferd's" first name for years, we just knew him as dad's buddy "Irish" & we knew he had a great sense of humor. We could also tell my dad had a good deal of respect for this guy (my dad was not easily impressed). Many years later when I met Ferd at the fair, I could see exactly why my dad liked him. The world has lost a very special person, however remembering how hard my dad would get laughing over a "Ferd" story, and the thought of them sharing some more stories together in heaven brings a smile to my face. God Bless You All, hold those memories tightly until you meet again.

I recently learned of Ferd’s passing. We were good friends @Caribou HS, class of 53 and then continued our contact on occasion at UMO. We were in many musical groups together in hi sch. Worked on his dad’s farm several times, really liked his parents. The family was very special to me. Reading of his many accomplishments during his adulthood comes as no surprise whatsoever, he did the same all thru hi sch. I spoke to him a few years back as I was hoping he might be coming to Me. For some reason but it didn’t happen. My condolences to you and your so. Please pass this on to Elaine. Would welcome hearing from you. Sincerely, Bunny Ross
