SHINGLEHOUSE, PA----Charlotte L. Voorhees, 88, of Shinglehouse, PA, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 after a long illness.
     Born April 23, 1925 in Ceres, NY, she was a daughter of Mark L. and Christine L. Langworthy White.  On June 12, 1949 in Ceres, NY, she married Gifford E. Voorhees, who passed away on November 30, 1989.
     She was a graduate of Bolivar High School, Class of 1941 and a graduate of the Design School of San Diego, California, Class of 1945.
     Charlotte was the owner and operator of Charlotte’s Flowers in Shinglehouse until retiring in 1992.
     She was a very active member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Shinglehouse.  She was a member of the Shinglehouse American Legion Post 530 Ladies Auxiliary and was a life member of Eureka Chapter #52 O.E.S. in Shinglehouse.  She volunteered for the American Cancer Society as a fundraiser for many years.  Charlotte, along with her husband, was very active in the Potter County Democratic Party Committee.  She loved to read and loved flowers.  Her greatest love was her family.
     Surviving are three daughters, Timothea T. “Tomi” Benjamin of Marina, California, Mary M. “Mugsie” Jones of Oswayo, and Caren C. “KK” Austin of Shinglehouse; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; a brother, Herman L. White of Bradford, PA; a sister, Sandra Jo Mulvey of Kittanning, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
     In addition to her parents and husband, Charlotte was predeceased by two sons, Timothy T. Voorhees and Mark A. T. Voorhees; a sister, Mary L. Sisson; and a brother, Mark W. White.
    In keeping with Charlotte’s wishes, there will be no public visitation.  A memorial Mass will be held at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Shinglehouse at a date and time to be announced in June.  Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
