SHINGLEHOUSE, PA---Chris A. Walker, 57, of Shinglehouse, formerly of Eldred, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013 at the Olean General Hospital, Olean, NY, after suffering an apparent heart attack.
     Born June 6, 1955 in Bradford, he was a son of Darwin F. “Nick” and Dorothy E. “Dode” Easton Walker.  
     Mr. Walker was a graduate of Eldred High School and honorably served as a motor transport operator in the U.S. Army from 1972 to 1975 having been stationed in Germany, obtaining the rank of E4.
     He was employed by the Olean Times Herald as a route driver and later was employed at the former Portville Forest Products.  At the time of his death, Chris was employed by R.A.M. Forest Products in Shinglehouse.
     Prior to moving to Shinglehouse, Chris was a longtime resident of Eldred.  He was a member of the Shinglehouse American Legion Post 530.  He loved to ride his Harley and hunt ginseng.  He enjoyed reading and spending time with his friends.  He was an avid NASCAR fan.
     Surviving are six children, Larry E. Walker and Jesse M. “Jake” Walker, both of Eldred, Dodie E. L. Champion of Georgia, Ruth A. Manning of Florida, Jackson Manning of Roulette, and Jamie Olmstead of Florida; several grandchildren; a great-grandson; a brother, Greg L. (Diane) Walker of Portville, NY; two half sisters, Catherine “Rita” Walker of Eldred and Peggy A. (Bruce) Manning of Turtlepoint; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins, including Scottie Schultz, who was Chris’ very best friend.
     Chris was predeceased by his parents.
     Friends may call at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse, on Friday, January 11, 2013 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at which time funeral services will follow.  The Rev. Russell J. Horning, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Shinglehouse, will officiate.
     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children Research Hospital Tribute Program, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
