Daniel L. Chappell            “beloved brother and uncle”

SHINGLEHOUSE, PA---Daniel L. Chappell, 54, a lifelong resident of Shinglehouse, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 8, 2025, in the Olean General Hospital, Olean, NY.

Born on Sunday, July 11, 1971 in Olean, he was a son of Donald R. and Bonita A. Hemphill Chappell.

Daniel was a graduate of Oswayo Valley High School in Shinglehouse. He was previously employed at Walmart and Big Lots, both in Olean.

He was an avid NASCAR fan and Buffalo Bills fan. Daniel enjoyed family gatherings with all of his nieces and nephews.

Left to cherish his memory are two brothers, Jim D. (Tracy Hyde) Chappell of Shinglehouse and Jeff D. Chappell of Turtlepoint; two sisters, Peggy A. (Ken Austin) Chappell of Eldred and Donna Kelley of Bonita Springs, FL; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Daniel was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Leroy and Laura Bunker Hemphill; his paternal grandparents, William and Geraldine Chappell Koblinger; a sister-in-law, Tracy Chappell; and a brother-in-law, Dale Saulter.

Services will be held privately.

Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials in Daniel’s name may be made to the Shinglehouse Volunteer Ambulance Association, PO Box 98, Shinglehouse, PA 16748.

Daniel’s family entrusted his care and cremation arrangements to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
