Donald D. Stannard “beloved father and grandfatherâ€
CERES, PA---Donald D. Stannard, 80, of Ceres, PA, went to be with his Savior on Friday, June 7, 2013 at Sena Kean Manor, Smethport, after a short illness.
Born September 15, 1932 in Olean, NY, he was a son of Dell H. and Dorothy Lanphere Stannard. On November 10, 1962 in Port Allegany, he married Mary Lou Schwab, who passed away on February 8, 2007.
Mr. Stannard attended Bells Run School and served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1956.
He was employed for many years as an oil and water well driller.
Mr. Stannard attended Grace Bible Independent Baptist Church in Shinglehouse for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching westerns and family time.
Surviving are eight children, Dorothy E. (Richard) Gaus of Shinglehouse, Adam H. (Julie) Stannard of Shinglehouse, Judy K. (Steven) Green of Eldred, Lisa R. (Perry) Kinney of Ceres, Robert D. (Patricia) Stannard of Scio, NY, Rebecca L. (Christopher) Hoffman of Belmont, NY, Debra E. (David) McDonald of Shinglehouse, and Ronald M. (Jennifer) Stannard of Shinglehouse; four stepchildren, David B. (Becky) Albney of Eldred, James A. (Pam) Albney of Virginia, Donna Albney, and Catherine A. (Ralph) Iennaco of Utah; twenty-eight grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Stannard was predeceased by a sister, Leslie Stannard Moyer; and a granddaughter, Ashley S. Kinney.
In keeping with Don’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral services. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Ceres, PA.
Memorials may be made to the Shinglehouse American Legion, PO Box 25, Shinglehouse, PA 16748.
