Donald D. “Don” Torrey      â€œbeloved husband and father”

AUSTIN, PA---Donald D. “Don” Torrey, 72, of Austin, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, after a long battle with cancer.
     Born on August 8, 1943 in Olean, NY, he was a son of Wayne L. and Cora M. “Bonnie” Stilson Torrey.  On May 25, 1991 in Marshall, Virginia, he married Kathy A. Miller, who survives.
     He was a graduate of Oswayo Valley High School in Shinglehouse.  Don honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era.  He was a self-employed carpenter.
     Don was a member of Tom Mix Rangers.  He loved to hunt and fish.  His greatest love was his family.
     Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Melissa D. Crown of Pittsburg, Texas; two sons, Duane L. (Lisa) Torrey of Pittsburg, Texas and Darin (Tina Arliss) Torrey of Pine Grove; “Kathy’s daughter”, Julie L. (Joel) Predmore of Elizabeth, Colorado; his stepson, John R. (Joan) Bacot of Warrenton, Virginia; seven grandchildren; four brothers, Craig (Joan) Torrey of Andrews Settlement, Dave (Mary Kay) Torrey of Shinglehouse, Karl (Gay) Torrey of Coneville, and Phil (Carol) Torrey of North Rose, NY; and many nieces and nephews.
     Don was predeceased by his parents and his first wife, Shirley.
     In keeping with Don’s wishes, there will be no public visitation.  A celebration of Don’s life will be held on a date and place to be announced.
     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tom Mix Rangers, c/o Jeannie Frailey, 1091 Parks Road, Irvona, PA 16656.
     Don’s family has entrusted his care to the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
