Dorothy A. Fitch    â€œbeloved aunt”

AUSTIN, PA---Dorothy A. Fitch, 93, of Austin, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport.
     Born February 15, 1920 in Houlton, Maine, she was a daughter of Milford I. and Lavinia Lord Tingley.  On May 30, 1940 in Port Allegany, she married Jeano S. Fitch who passed away on December 4, 2001.
     Mrs. Fitch was a graduate of Austin High School, class of 1938.  
     She had been employed by Sylvania Corporation in Emporium for many years.
     Mrs. Fitch was a lifelong resident of Austin where she was a member of St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church.  She loved to read and enjoyed introducing her nieces and nephews to the joy of books.  She enjoyed cooking and baking, and was known for her hospitality.  She also enjoyed flowers and gardening.  She was lovingly regarded as the family matriarch.
     Surviving are a brother, Kenneth I. (Shirley) Tingley of Columbus, Indiana; a sister, Catherine Caldwell of Bradford; a sister-in-law, Helen D. Tingley of Coudersport; and many nieces and nephews, including her niece, Debbie Walden, with whom she enjoyed an especially close relationship.
     In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Fitch was predeceased by four brothers, Vaughn E. Tingley, William A. Tingley, Clair M. Tingley, and infant Buddy Tingley; and two sisters, Leda Tingley and infant Betty Tingley.
     Friends may call on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Turner Street, Austin, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Father Joseph V. Dougherty, pastor, as celebrant.  Burial will be in St. Augustine/St. Paul Cemetery, Costello.
     The Rosary will be recited at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday evening in the church.
