Douglas C. Nichols                                  “beloved husband”

WEST BINGHAM, PA---Douglas C. Nichols, 78, a longtime resident of West Bingham, passed away on Friday, July 31, 2026, in UPMC Cole, Coudersport.

Born on Friday, January 9, 1948 in Birmingham, AL, he was a son of Junior R. and Bulah “Boots” Helton Nichols. On August 13, 1966 in Genesee, he married the former Patricia Riggle, who survives.

Doug worked for many years on drilling rigs and most especially loved his job driving truck over the road.

He was a member of Bible Union Church of West Bingham, PA. Doug enjoyed making knives to give to his family and friends.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of almost 60 years, Pat; his daughter, Marla A. (Shawn) Callahan of Stuarts Draft, VA; a granddaughter, Rachele A. (Jermaine) Morris of Waynesboro, VA; a great-grandson, Elijah D. Martin of Waynesboro, VA; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Doug was predeceased by two brothers, Vernon L. (Liddy) Nichols and Ronald D. Nichols.

Family and friends are invited to attend graveside funeral services at 11am on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 in North Bingham Cemetery, North Bingham. Pastor Marty Reisman of Bible Union Church, West Bingham, will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Doug’s name may be made to Bible Union Church, 2031 Hickox Ulysses Road, Genesee, PA 16923.

Doug’s wife has entrusted his care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, Funeral Director/Owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
