Edward F. Wisel      â€œbeloved father, grandfather and uncle”

SHINGLEHOUSE, PA---Edward F. Wisel, 93, of Shinglehouse, PA, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2015 in Wellsville Manor, Wellsville, NY, after a long illness.
     Born December 20, 1921 in Shinglehouse, he was a son of George and Marie Harvey Wisel.  On June 7, 1947 in Lewis Run, he married Patricia E. Crattie, who passed away on February 11, 2008.
     He was a graduate of Shinglehouse High School, Class of 1939.  Mr. Wisel was a U.S. Army veteran having served during World War II in China, Burma and India.  
     After serving his country, Mr. Wisel was an instructor at National Schools in Los Angeles, California for three years.  He returned to Shinglehouse and was employed for many years at the former Clark Brothers in Olean, NY as an assembler.  He was also employed as a rural mail carrier in Shinglehouse retiring in 1981.
      Mr. Wisel attended the First Baptist Church in Shinglehouse.  He was a life member and past chief of the Shinglehouse Volunteer Fire Department, was a member of the Shinglehouse Volunteer Ambulance Association, a longtime member of the Shinglehouse American Legion Post 530 and a devoted member of the Potter County Honor Guard. He was a member of the Oswayo Valley Senior Center in Shinglehouse where he volunteered delivering Meals on Wheels.  He enjoyed traveling and square dancing.  Ed, along with his twin brother, collected cans and bottles for the Coudersport Seventh-day Adventist Church.  He always helped anyone he could.
     Surviving are two sons, James E. (Cathy) Wisel of Livingston, Texas and Terry F. Wisel of Obi, NY; two grandsons; two nieces; and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
     In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Wisel was predeceased by two brothers, his twin Edwin Wisel and Grant Wisel.
     Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday and from 1 to 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse, PA where funeral services will follow at 2 p.m.  The Rev. Russell J. Horning, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Shinglehouse, will officiate.  Burial will in the St. Bernard Cemetery, Bradford.
     Members of the Shinglehouse Volunteer Fire Department will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday in the funeral home.
     Members of the Potter County Honor Guard will accord military honors on Sunday at the funeral home.
