Edwin H. Fichtner “former Eldred, PA resident”
WEBSTER, FLORIDA---Edwin H. “Ed” Fichtner, 88, of Webster, a former longtime resident of Eldred, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, in the James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital, Tampa.
Born on Friday, September 18, 1936 in Salamanca, NY, he was a son of Charles M. and Violet M. Lamberson Fichtner.
During his grade school years, Ed resided in Turtlepoint. He entered the US Air Force at the age of 18 and honorably served his country. After discharge from active duty, he served in the Army Reserves.
Ed was employed at Eastman Kodak in Rochester as a lens grinder for over 10 years. He also was employed for over 20 years in oil fields and off shore wells of Texas. He returned to the Eldred, living there for the last 20+ years. He then moved to Webster, residing there for the last 3 years.
Surviving are a sister, Nancy A. (James) Babcock of Millport, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Ed’s wishes, there will be no services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a veteran’s organization of the donor’s choice.
Ed entrusted his care and cremation arrangements to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
