Bath, NY---Edwin B. “Ed” Klesa, 94, of Bath, NY, formerly of Shinglehouse, PA, passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2012, at the Buffalo VA Medical Center, Buffalo, NY, after a short illness.
     Born on June 18, 1918 in Homer Township, he was the son of Fred A. and Lydia F. Guenter Klesa. On January 2, 1943 in Coudersport, he married Bernadine A. Lunn, who passed away on January 14, 1991.
     Mr. Klesa attended Inez Country School and was a graduate of Coudersport High School, Coudersport, PA. On December 28, 1942, he joined the U.S. Army, where he attended carpentry school at Camp Lee in Virginia. Mr. Klesa proudly served his country during World War II until being discharged on January 12, 1946. After his military service, Mr. Klesa was a self employed contractor, having built many homes in Shinglehouse, the Oswayo Valley Memorial Library, and was supervising contractor for the building of the Ethan Allen Plant in Eldred.    
     He was a member of the Shinglehouse American Legion Post 530.  His life long hobby was hunting and digging Ginseng.  He also enjoyed trapping, hunting and fishing.
     Surviving are two sons, Dale E. (Dottie) Klesa of Wellsville, NY and Rodney V. “Rod” Klesa of Bath, NY; 2 grandchildren, Nickcole Klesa and Colby (Heather) Klesa; a great-granddaughter, Isabel Klesa; a sister, Mary Nanson of Silver Spring, MD; and several nieces and nephews.
     In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Klesa was predeceased by 2 brothers, Frederick Klesa and Robert Klesa.
     Friends may call on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse, PA, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 17, 2012.  The Rev. Becky Edwards, pastor of the Shinglehouse United Methodist Church, will officiate.  Committal services and burial will be held in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
     Members of the Potter County Honor Guard will accord full military honors on Monday.
     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Oswayo Valley Memorial Library, PO Box 188, Shinglehouse, PA 16748 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
