SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa.---Eric D. Howard, 52, of Shinglehouse, passed away unexpectedly in Shinglehouse at the home of his lifelong friend on Thursday, July 26, 2018.

Born on August 6, 1965 in Olean, N.Y., he was a son of C. DeWayne “Dewy” and Patricia A. “Pat” Washburn Howard.  In Germantown, MD, he married Susan Corfman, who passed away in 2006.

Eric was a graduate of Oswayo Valley High School in Shinglehouse and earned his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics from the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.

Eric was employed as the IT manager for National Public Radio in Washington, D.C.

He enjoyed fishing and boating on the Chesapeake Bay and hunting in West Virginia.  His passion was computers.

Surviving besides his parents of Shinglehouse are a daughter, Megan (Mitch) Steffey of Honolulu, HI; a stepson, Kyle (Rosie) Corfman of Baltimore, MD; two brothers, Scott D. (Lynette) Howard of Guilford, VT and Mark D. (Bev) Howard of Alvin, TX; a nephew; and several nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins.

In addition to his wife, Eric was predeceased by his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Oswayo Valley Memorial Library, PO Box 188, Shinglehouse, PA 16748.

Eric’s family has entrusted his care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
