Faye A. Kio           “beloved wife, mother and grandmother”

AUSTIN, PA---Faye A. Kio, 67, a lifelong resident of Austin, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 in her home.
       Born November 1, 1945 in Coudersport, she was a daughter of Francis C. “Peck” and Sarah E. Lentz Marshall.  On February 15, 1964 in Austin, she married Douglas G. Kio, who survives.
     Faye attended the former Austin Joint School in Austin.  She was employed at Emporium Specialties for more than 20 years and later worked for the former Schumacher’s Inn in Costello until her retirement.
     Faye was a member of the Austin United Methodist Church.  She loved to play bingo, loved to bake, and loved the Pittsburgh Pirates.  She enjoyed country music, dancing the polka, and singing karaoke.  Her greatest love was her family.
     Surviving besides her husband of 49 years are three sons, Douglas G. (Cindy) Kio, Jr., Dennis J. (Trish) Kio, and Robert F. “Bob” Kio, all of Austin; a daughter, Vera E. (Darren) VanWhy of Austin; a daughter-in-law, Terry E. Kio of Austin; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Francis R. “Sonny” (Donna) Marshall of Duke Center; a sister, Gloria D. “Toots” Stuckey of Austin; and several nieces and nephews.
     In addition to her parents, Faye was predeceased by a brother, Walter “Gale” Marshall.
     Friends may call on Friday, August 9, 2013 at the Austin United Methodist Church from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at which time funeral services will be held with the Rev. Steven Small, pastor, officiating.  Burial will be private.
     Flowers are gratefully declined and will be provided by the family.  Memorials may be made to the Austin Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 328, Austin, PA 16720; to the Cole Foundation at Cole Memorial Hospital for Komen Breast Cancer Research, 1001 East Second Street, Coudersport, PA 16915; or to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh, 451 44th Street, Penthouse Floor, Pittsburgh, PA 15201-1138.
