Florence W. Kemp Ezell      â€œbeloved mother, friend to many”

WELLSVILLE, NY---Florence W. Kemp Ezell, of Wellsville, formerly of Ceres, PA, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2012 in Wellsville Manor Care Center, Wellsville, after a long illness.
     Born May 4, 1932 in Wellsville, she was a daughter of Sidney Genaux and Winifred C. Roeder Genaux.  On June 29, 1951 in Shinglehouse, she married Edwin L. “Buster” Kemp, who died on April 18, 1989.  On May 23, 1992 in Angelica, she married William “Frank” Ezell, who survives.
     Mrs. Ezell was a graduate of Shinglehouse High School.  For several years she was employed as a certified nurse’s aide at the former Hewitt Manor Nursing Home in Shinglehouse.  She later was employed as a cook at the former Trapper Vic’s Restaurant in Shinglehouse and was also employed as a waitress at several area restaurants.  She, along with her first husband, owned and operated Kemp’s Tractor Sales in Ceres, PA.
     Mrs. Ezell was a member of the Ceres United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and ceramics.  She was an avid reader.  She loved to shop, but most especially loved spending time with her family.
     Surviving in addition to her husband are four children, Suzanne E. (Dewight) Gleason of Ceres, PA, Robert L. (Betsey) Kemp of Ceres, PA, Debra L. (Joseph) Nolan of Little Genesee, and Rosemary J. (James) Cornwall of Machias; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Sidney (Sharon) Genaux, Jr. of Texas and John (Theresa) Genaux of Emporium; several nieces and nephews; three stepsons, George Ezell and Monty (Donna) Ezell, both of Missouri, and Kevin (Martha) Ezell of Dryden; and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
     In addition to her parents and first husband, Mrs. Ezell was predeceased by a daughter, Joyce L. Taylor.
     Friends may call on Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse, PA where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 17, 2012 with the Rev. Becky L. Edwards, pastor of the Ceres United Methodist Church, officiating.  Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
     Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Ceres United Methodist Church, 2905 Kings Run Road, Shinglehouse, PA 16748 or to the American Cancer Society.
