Freeman A. Bridge     “beloved father & grandfather”

SHINGLEHOUSE, PA---Freeman A. Bridge, 62, of Shinglehouse, passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, May 17, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born February 3, 1950 in Olean, NY, he was a son of Albert W. and Henrietta C. Hackett Bridge.

Freeman was a 1968 graduate of Oswayo Valley High School in Shinglehouse. During his high school years, he was a member of the Future Farmers of America, serving as president of the Oswayo Valley Chapter during his senior year.  He also served as vice president of the area Future Farmers of America.

Mr. Bridge was employed at Dresser Industries in Olean from 1973 until 2011 when he became ill.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and farming.  His greatest love was his family, especially his grandchildren.
    
Surviving are a daughter, Kellie L. (Dan Norton) Bridge of Shinglehouse; a son, Freeman M. (Michelle) Bridge of Cuba, NY; eleven grandchildren, Bryce, Nick, Colin, Nathan, Sadee, Noah, Ashton, Nash, Julien, Levi, and Luc; a sister, Ellen A. (Perry) Austin of Shinglehouse; and several nieces and nephews.
    
In addition to his parents, Freeman was predeceased by a daughter, Angela K. Bridge, who died on August 30, 1989; a brother, Harvey Clare Bridge; and a sister, Lauranna Kay Bridge.
    
In keeping with Freeman’s wishes, there will be no public visitation.  Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, 2012 in Bell Run Union Church with the Rev. Chad E. Shaffer, pastor, officiating.  Burial will be in Bell Run Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bell Run Community Club, c/o Jane Austin, 308 Austin Road, Shinglehouse, PA 16748 or to the Oswayo Valley Rod and Gun Club, Canada Hollow Road, Shinglehouse, PA 16748.
