COUDERSPORT, PA---Gary Robert Nye, 73, of Coudersport, formerly of New Cumberland, passed away at home on Friday, April 13, 2012.
Born April 8, 1939 in New Cumberland, he was a son of David R. and Resta M. Kiester Nye. He married Joan M. Bechtel, who preceded him in death.
Gary was a graduate of New Cumberland High School. He was employed by PPL Electric Utilities in Shiremanstown for 30 years until retiring.
He was a member of the North Eulalia Baptist Church in Coudersport, a member of the N.R.A., and a life member of the New Cumberland Volunteer Fire Department. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Surviving are two sons, David R. Nye of Lewisberry and Thomas A. Nye of Enola; four grandchildren, Chelsea Nye, David Nye, Zachary Nye and Rachel Nye; a sister, Virginia Burtnett of New Cumberland; and a niece.
At Gary’s request there will be no visitation or funeral services.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, PA.
