Gertrude R. Trimble                       “loving mother, grandmother, and sister”

OSWAYO, PA---Gertrude R. “Gert” Trimble, 85, of Oswayo, passed away in her home surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.

Born on Monday, June 3, 1940 in Olean, NY, she was a daughter of Calvin G. and Ruth M. Thompson Bell. On December 17, 1983 in Hebron Township, she married Paul F. Trimble, who passed away on April 7, 2017.

Gert was a graduate of Oswayo Valley High School in Shinglehouse. She was employed by various companies throughout the years as a secretary. Gert also served on an election board for Potter County.

She had formerly attended Bell Run Union Church in Shinglehouse. In her earlier years, Gert enjoyed sewing, making her grandchildren blankets. She loved spending time with her granddaughter, Kala and Kala’s three sons.

Surviving are five children, Kathy (Ron) Gross of Shinglehouse, Robert Austin, Jr. of Shinglehouse, Kevin (Kim) Austin of Bradford, Glenda (Bob Peters) Doner of Nashville, TN, and Kandi (Mark) Goodreau of Port Allegany; many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; a sister, Carol Taylor of Shinglehouse; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Gert was predeceased by an infant daughter, Laura Austin; a granddaughter, Makena Lee “Kenna” Austin; four siblings, C. Glen Bell, Jr., Kenneth Bell, Bernie Haynes, and June Huston.

Family and friends may call from 11am to 1pm on Friday, September 26, 2025, at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse, where funeral services will follow at 1pm with Pastor Daniel Bell, of Cornerstone Baptist Church, Browns Mills, NJ, Gert’s nephew, officiating. Burial will be in Rathbone Cemetery, Coneville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Gert’s name may be made to Bell Run Union Church, 904 Taylor Brook Road, Shinglehouse, PA 16748.

Gert’s family entrusted her care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
