Hazel Eugenia Johnston Fuller “Devoted servant of the Lord”

Shinglehouse, PA---Eugenia Fuller, 93, of Shinglehouse, passed away Thursday August 13, 2020, in the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, VT. Born July 26, 1927 she was the third of three children born to William Ray and Nellie (Grover) Johnston. She lived in various towns in northern PA and southern NY while growing up. She earned a BA with honors at Houghton, an MA and was in the process of earning a PHD when she married Earl Eugene Fuller on August 17, 1974. Eugenia and Earl served God together until Earl’s passing on August 28, 2000. Eugenia has been a faithful prayer warrior for her entire family and those she worked with in Asia.

 

Eugenia was a skilled linguist and spent much of her adult life with the Summer Institute of Linguistics and Wycliffe Bible Translators in Viet Nam, Philippines, and Malaysia. She remained a member of the Bell Run Union Church in Shinglehouse PA. In 2017, Eugenia’s health failed, and she relocated to Fairfax, VT, where her daily needs were met by nieces Sheryl (and Robert) Wilkins and Theresa Loveless.

 

In addition to her husband, Eugenia was predeceased by her brother Leon (and Thelma) Johnston, her sister Rose (Arthur) Vossler, and nephew Bennie Vossler. Eugenia is survived by a large family consisting of nieces, Theresa (David who also passed) Loveless, Sheryl (Robert) Wilkins, Carolyn (Glyn also passed) Bindon and nephews, Paul and Craig (Debbie) Johnston.

 

Eugenia’s extended family included Helen (Paul) Cradduck Adams, predeceased Marilynn (Allan/Lydia) Kidd, Judy (predeceased Robert) Rhodes; grandchildren, Sidney (Pamela) Cradduck, Deborah (Craig) Brown, Cynthia Cradduck, Timothy (Isabel) Cradduck, Patty (Dean) Markos, Collette (Steve ) Figliozzi, Llewellyn (Janice) Kidd, Joshua (Jennifer) Kidd; 28 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren.

 

Because of the COVID-19 environment, a dedication service will be held prior to burial on Thursday August 20, 2020, at noon with a viewing period from 11:00 am to 11:45 am, at the Bell Run Union Church in Shinglehouse PA. Pastor Chad Schafer will officiate. A memorial service will be held at a later date that is convenient for the family.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bell Run Union Church, 904 Taylor Brook Road, Shinglehouse, PA 16748.

 

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
