Helen L. Stedman      â€œbeloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister”

OSWAYO, PA----Helen L. Stedman, 78, of Oswayo, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013, in Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport, after a lengthy illness.
     Born November 29, 1934 in Oswayo, she was a daughter of James Kenneth “Red” and Bessie M. Banks Hallock.  On April 23, 1953 in Oswayo, she married Wayne “Allie” Stedman, who survives.
     She attended Oswayo Country School and was a graduate of Shinglehouse High School.
      Mrs. Stedman was a member of the Oswayo United Methodist Church in Oswayo.  She enjoyed sewing, quilting, her flower gardens, walking, and bicycling.  Her greatest love was her family.
     Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Valerie J. (Stephen) Sturdevant of Coudersport; a son Steve W. Stedman of Ohio; two grandsons, Brian K. (Christi) Stedman and Brett W. Stedman; two great-grandchildren, Carter Stedman and Lily Stedman; a sister, Charlotte (Charles) Sutton of Oswayo; and several nieces and nephews.
     In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stedman was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth “Buster” Hallock.
     Friends may call at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse, PA on Thursday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Friday, July 26, 2013 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at which time funeral services will follow.  The Rev. Darell D. Harris, of Oswayo, will officiate.  Burial will be in Rathbone Cemetery, Coneville.
     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oswayo United Methodist Church, c/o Sandy Amidon, 349 SR 244N, Shinglehouse, PA 16748.
