James A. Jones “”beloved father, grandfather, and brother”
COUDERSPORT, Pa.--James A. “Jim” Jones, 68, a lifelong resident of Coudersport, passed away with his loving family by his side on Monday, November 22, 2021, at the Wellspan Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, after a short illness.
Born on Sunday, February 15, 1953 in Olean, N.Y., he was a son of Jack H. and Leona P. “Dolly” Haxton Jones.
Jim was a graduate of Coudersport High School, Class of 1971, where he played football and participated in track.
He was employed by the former Pure Carbon Company in Coudersport for 33 years, having been in charge of the Receiving Department. After his retirement, he was employed as a corrections officer at the Potter County Jail.
As a child, Jim attended the North Eulalia Baptist Church in Coudersport. He was a social member of the American Legion Post 192 in Coudersport. He enjoyed working on his tractor and lawnmower, cutting wood, making maple syrup, hunting and fishing. His greatest love was his family.
Left to cherish his memory are a son, Bradley G. “Brad” Jones of Coudersport; three daughters, Nicole A. (Eric) Andree of New Market, Maryland, Melinda A. (Jeremy) Ryder of Mercersburg, and Candy L. (Mark) Moschetti of Chambersburg; ten grandchildren; two sisters, Maxine Parrish and Marcia (Joseph) Lagrua, both of Coudersport; and several nieces, nephews., grandnieces and grandnephews.
Jim was predeceased by his parents.
Family and friends may call from 10am to noon on Friday, November 26, 2021, at North Eulalia Baptist Church, 683 SR 49E, Coudersport, where funeral services will follow at noon with Pastor Michael C. Reeves, officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Coudersport.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children—Erie, 1645 W 8th Street, Erie, PA 16505.
