James W. Paddison “beloved husband, father, grandfather; and devoted servant of the Lord”
SHINGLEHOUSE, PA---James W. Paddison, 91, of Shinglehouse, went to be with the Lord, on Sunday, August 3, 2025, in his home.
Born on Friday, December 8, 1933 in Cuba, NY, he was a son of Stanley and Irene Williams Paddison. On September 6, 1958 in the Bell Run Union Church, he married Eileen Maxson, who survives.
Jim was a graduate of Richburg High School in Richburg, NY. He honorably served four years in the US Army. He was employed at Cutco Cutlery in Olean, NY from February 7, 1952 until his retirement on February 7 2011, having served for 59 years. He was a group leader from 1978.
Jim was a very active member of Bell Run Union Church for almost 60 years. He had served as an Adult Sunday School teacher, a Children Church leader, a Church Chairman and also as Sunday School Superintendent. He enjoyed singing and playing the guitar and the harmonica with the group “Countrymen for Christ”, a group of men from the church. Jim enjoyed camping with his children and grandchildren, traveling to multiple state parks every year. He took great pride in his campground in Richburg, NY, where many friends and family have enjoyed for the last 30 years. He also loved antique cars and enjoyed restoring vintage bikes. In his younger years, he enjoyed his motorcycles.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of almost 67 years; five children, Steve (Regina Kellogg) Paddison of Ceres, NY, Russ (Bonnie) Paddison of Ceres, NY; Karen (Brad) Burr of Port Allegany, Neil Paddison of Shinglehouse, and Jennifer (Bill) Lewis of Olean, NY: nine grandchildren, Travis Paddison, Emily (Brandon) Serkleski, Brittany (Chris Padlo) Paddison, Shane (Kelly McConnaughey) Paddison, Colyn (Brandi) Burr, Caleb (Cassie) Burr, Cory (Jerri) Burr, Tyler (Stacey) Lewis, and Brooke (Seth) Snowden; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Nancy (Curt) Mansell of Spencerport, NY; two nieces, Sheryl (Tom) Costa and Debbie Paddison; and two nephews, Mark (Bernie) Mansell and Billy Paddison.
In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by a brother Bill Paddison; and a sister-in-law, Sandy Paddison.
Family and friends may call from 10am to 12 noon on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at Bell Run Union Church, 904 Taylor Brook Road, Shinglehouse, where funeral services will follow at 12 noon with Pastor Chad E. Shaffer, officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jim’s name may be made to Bell Run Union Church, 904 Taylor Brook Road, Shinglehouse, PA 16748.
Jim’s family has entrusted his care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
