Lucille Kemp Maxson
SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa.---Lucille Kemp Maxson, 97, of Shinglehouse, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2017, in Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport.
Born on August 30, 1919 in Shinglehouse, she was a daughter of Lou L. and Lena E. Mix Kemp. On November 20, 1937 in Shinglehouse, she married Welcome R. Maxson, who passed away on May 27, 1990.
Mrs. Maxson was a graduate of Shinglehouse High School, Class of 1937.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Shinglehouse and a member and past matron of Eureka Chapter #52 O.E.S. in Shinglehouse. She enjoyed knitting and quilting.
Surviving are two sons, Gary L. Maxson and Lawrence C. “Buck” Maxson, both of Shinglehouse; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Joanne Maxson of Shinglehouse
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Maxson was predeceased by a son, Ronald W. Maxson; a grandson, Ronnie W. Maxson; a great-grandson, Cameron Maxson; and a brother, Richard L. Kemp.
Family and friends may call from noon to 2pm on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse, where funeral services will follow at 2pm with the Rev. Russell J. Horning, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Shinglehouse, officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
Members of Eureka Chapter #52 O.E.S. will conduct an Eastern Star service following the funeral service on Sunday in the funeral home.
