Madelyn J. McNulty Francis “beloved mother and grandmother”
COUDERSPORT, Pa.---Madelyn J. McNulty Francis, 95, a lifelong resident of Coudersport, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2022. Sadly, Madelyn had spent the last 2 years of her life in UPMC Cole Place as her care required constant skilled nursing.
Madelyn was born in Coudersport on May 30, 1926 and was the second daughter of Harry M. and Flossie A. Rees McNulty. She married Clarence H. “Rip” Francis, on May 21, 1949, in Coudersport. They celebrated 69 years of marriage just prior to his passing in 2018.
Madelyn was a graduate of Coudersport High School, Class of 1944. She worked for Coudersport Insurance and then later retired from Coudersport Farm Credit after serving there as secretary for 25 years. Madelyn was a faithful member of Coudersport Park United Methodist Church. She was also an active member of the Coudersport Office Girls and the Women’s Bowling League. She and Rip enjoyed the couples bowling league and participating in town social events. Madelyn had a passion for cooking, baking, berrying, gardening, dancing, swimming, and taking rides on remote Potter County roads. But, by far, her greatest love was time spent with her family. She was selfless when it came to family. There was always an open invitation for families to visit, be it weekends with sisters and their families, grandchildren's sleepovers, or the annual McNulty Reunions. All the grandchildren, nieces, and nephews hold fond memories of pool parties and lots of desserts!
Surviving are four children: Kay (Michael) Bender of Sanford, Maine; Lynn Klimek of Newfield, N.Y.; Gary (Russina) Francis of Coudersport, and Lori (Norman) King of Cardington, Ohio; ten grandchildren, Chad, Tina, Neal, Leslie, Erin, Joshua, Angela, Danielle, Brenna, and Lindsey; nine great-grandchildren, Dakota, Cody, Wyatt, Waylon, Callen, Toran, Verity, Mercy, and Calvin; a brother-in-law, Lewis Schaub of Coudersport; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Madelyn was predeceased by four sisters, Jean Johnson, Margaret Pascuzzi, Patricia Williams, and Louise Schaub.
Family and friends may visit from 10am to 11am on Friday, May 20, 2022, at Park United Methodist Church, Coudersport, where a Celebration of Life service will follow at 11am with Pastor Gregory A. Rapp, officiating. Burial will be in Raymond Cemetery, Gold, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Park United Methodist Church, 15 East Third Street, Coudersport, PA 16915 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Madelyn entrusted her care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
