Marian L. Brisbee “beloved mother and grandmother”

ALLEGANY, N.Y.---Marian L. Brisbee, 80, of Allegany, passed away with her loving family by her side on Sunday, October 17, 2021, in the Olean General Hospital, Olean.
Born on Thursday, November 21, 1940 in Burtville, Pa., she was a daughter of Warren E. and Doris Burt Tripp. Doris was a direct descendant of the first white male child born in Potter County; his name was John Burt. On November 4, 1961 in Ft. Jackson, SC, she married Richard B. Brisbee, who passed away on October 13, 2005.
Marian was a graduate of Port Allegany High School, Class of 1958. She was a Class of 1961 graduate of the former Bradford School of Practical Nursing. She was a military Army wife and traveled extensively with her husband during his military career. She worked as a nurse and also worked as a seamstress from her home. Marian was employed by the Olean General Hospital, retiring in 2002 after 20 years of service with her last position being Lab Secretary. She taught music therapy at Ft. Stewart, GA for many years and in addition taught private piano lessons to many individuals. Marian served as the Gospel Congregation pianist at Ft. Stewart where she also played for many fallen soldier’s memorial services, having received two meritorious service coins in recognition of her service.
Marian was a faithful Christian who attended church regularly. She was an avid traveler, camper, and gardener.
Surviving are three sons, Ronald W. (Marilyn) Brisbee of Coudersport, Pa., Kevin B. (Jamie) Brisbee of Hinsdale, and Joe F. Brisbee of Allegany; a daughter, Sharon D. (Pete) Burgess of Allegany; seventeen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Lois E. (Miles) Francisco of Belmont; three sisters-in-law, Beverly McCauley, Bonnie Tripp, and Linda Brisbee; a friend who was like a brother, Herb Reed of Hinesville, GA; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marian was predeceased by a brother, Walter Tripp; and her longtime friend, Sue Reed.
Family and friends may call from 11am to 1pm on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at the Casey, Halwig, & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road, Olean, where funeral services will follow at 1pm with the Rev. Eric Kessel, pastor of Farmersville Baptist Church, Farmersville Station, officiating. Burial will be in Card Creek Cemetery, Burtville, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Allegany Rescue and EMS, 10 N. First Street, Allegany, NY 14706.
Marian entrusted her care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, Pa, and the Casey, Halwig, & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
