ALIQUIPPA, PA---Mary G. Blanchard, 86, of Aliquippa, formerly of Shinglehouse, passed away peacefully in her home to meet Jesus, with her loving family by her side, on Monday, September 29, 2025, after a short battle with aggressive gastric cancer.


Born on Sunday, February 26, 1939 in Bradford, she was a daughter of Philip and Alta L. Kelly Wood. On April 23, 1955 in Millport, she married Richard D. “Dick” Blanchard, who passed away on December 3, 1996.


Mary was a graduate of Oswayo Valley High School in Shinglehouse. She was employed for many years by the former St. Francis Hospital in Olean and later the Olean General Hospital in Olean, retiring as the Environmental Services Manager.


Throughout the years Mary attended several local churches, including the Obi Community Church in Obi, NY and the First Baptist Church in Shinglehouse. While living in Aliquippa, she attended the Ohio United Presbyterian Church.


Mary enjoyed knitting, reading her Bible, painting on her phone and shopping with her friends and family. Her greatest loves were her family, friends and animals.


Left to cherish her memory are her four children, Douglas A. “Doug” Blanchard of Shinglehouse, Debra A. Howard of Las Vegas, Nevada, Timothy J. (Jerri) Blanchard of Rocky Mount, Virginia, and Laurie K. Anderson of Aliquippa; seven grandchildren, Jeremy Blanchard, Andy (Danielle) Howard, Paige Howard, MaryKate (Neal) Riddle, Eric (Rachel) Anderson, Allison (Steve) Buller, and Aubrey (Chris) Green; thirteen great-grandchildren, Reese, Wyatt, Forrest, Truett, Banner, Lucas, Evelyn, Zoey, Tyson, Rylie, Sarah, Hayley and Elizabeth; a brother, Pastor David (Barbara) Wood of Blountstown, FL; and many nieces and nephews.


In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was predeceased by a son, Mark E. Blanchard; a granddaughter, Sarah E. Blanchard; two brothers, John C. Wood and Richard L. Wood; and a sister, Constance “Connie” Austin.


Family and friends may call from 6pm to 8pm on Friday, October 3, 2025, and from 9am to 11am on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse, where funeral services will follow at 11am on Saturday, with her brother, Pastor David Wood, officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.


In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mary’s name may be made to the Beaver County Humane Society, 3394 Brodhead Rd, Aliquippa, PA 15001.


Mary’s family has entrusted her care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
