Muriel M. Pekarski “beloved wife, mother, and grandmother”

COUDERSPORT, Pa.---Muriel M. Pekarski, 82, a lifelong resident of Coudersport, passed away on Monday, January 10, 2022, in UPMC Cole, Coudersport, after a short illness.
Born on Saturday, September 30, 1939, in Coudersport, she was a daughter of John H. and Agnes M. “Maggie” Mosher Duell. On June 7, 1958, in St. Eulalia Catholic Church in Coudersport, she married John E. Pekarski, who passed away on August 26, 2016.
Muriel was a graduate of Coudersport High School. She was employed for many years by the Coudersport Elementary School as a playground monitor. She was also a news reporter for the Olean Times Herald in Olean, N.Y. and for the former Potter Enterprise in Coudersport. Prior to her retirement, Muriel was the meter maid for Coudersport Borough.
Muriel was a member of St. Eulalia Catholic Church in Coudersport and had also attended St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin. She was one of Potter County’s first woman EMT’s, volunteering for many years for the Coudersport Volunteer Ambulance Association. Muriel had a green thumb, having many plants in her home through the years. She enjoyed reading. Her greatest love was her family and her many cats throughout the years.
Surviving are two sons, Brian J. (Norma) Pekarski and Jerry D. (Casey) Pekarski, both of Coudersport; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Sabrina, Ciarra, Loryn, and Landin; a great-granddaughter, Alayah Pekarski; a brother, Willis “Willie” (Sandy) Duell of Shinglehouse; a sister-in-law, Ruth Caldwell of Buzzard Bay, Massachusetts; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Muriel was predeceased by a grandson, Jes Pekarski; and a sister, Mary Kent.
A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Eulalia Catholic Church, Coudersport, on a date and time to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Teacher’s Pet Rescue, 19 Blackberry Lane, Coudersport, PA 16915 or to the Coudersport Volunteer Ambulance Association, PO Box 651, Coudersport, PA 16915.
Muriel’s family has entrusted her care and cremation arrangements to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
