Nancy W. Chitester     “beloved mother and grandmother”

COUDERSPORT, PA---Nancy W. Chitester, 67, a lifelong resident of Coudersport, passed away unexpectedly with her loving family by her side on Friday, July 15, 2016 at Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport.
     Born on January 23, 1949 in Coudersport, she was a daughter of Joseph M. and Gladys Davey Walaski.  On August 26, 1967 in Coudersport, she married Thomas R. “Tom” Chitester, who passed away on May 20, 2012.
     Nancy was a graduate of Coudersport High School, Class of 1967.  She held several jobs throughout the years until her retirement.
     Nancy was a member of St. Eulalia Catholic Church in Coudersport where she served as a Eucharistic minister.  She was also active in the Maternity Closet Ministry of the church.  She volunteered at the Coudersport Senior Center and its Meals on Wheels program.  She loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
     Surviving are a daughter, Michelle L. (Jodi) Chitester of Santa Rosa, California; two sons, Jason S. (Julie) Chitester of Coudersport and Jeremy D. (Tamara) Chitester of Wellsboro; three granddaughters, Ashley M. (Cole) Chitester, Briena A. Chitester, and Lily G. Chitester; a grandson, Joseph E. (Kelly) Childers; two brothers, William (Soledad) Walaski of Dallas, Texas and Gary M. (Sue) Walaski of Coudersport; two sisters, Delores “Dee” Taylor of Mechanicsburg and Jean A. (Don) Grom of Bangor; and several nieces and nephews.
     In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy was predeceased a daughter, Carrie A. Chitester; and a brother, James Walaski.
     Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at St. Eulalia Catholic Church, Coudersport where a memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 21, 2016 with the Rev. James C. Campbell, pastor, as celebrant.  Burial will be in St. Eulalia Catholic Cemetery, Coudersport.
     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, 4401 Penn Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15224; to the Maternity Closet of St. Eulalia Catholic Church, 6 East Maple Street, Coudersport, PA 16915; or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
     Nancy’s family has entrusted her care to the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, PA.
