Paula J. Brizzee          “beloved mother and grandmother”

WHITESVILLE, NY---Paula J. Brizzee, 72, of Whitesville, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2016, in Highland Park Healthcare Center, Wellsville, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on December 2, 1943 in Canisteo, she was a daughter of Reuben and Della Jackson O’Dell.  She was married to Howard Sugden, who passed away in October of 1986.  She later married Cloice Brizzee, who passed away in March of 1997.

Paula was employed as a cook/waitress at many locations in Allegany County.

She enjoyed gardening and cooking.  Paula most especially loved spending time with her family.

Surviving are three children, Carla Edwards of Whitesville, Carl “Bub” (Misty Sharp) O’Dell of Whitesville, and Kelly O’Dell Vancuren of Andover; two step-children, Jay (Cathy) Sugden of Florida and Anita Gordon of Canisteo; seven grandchildren, Heather (Pete Pollock) Haring, Craig Goerner, Joshua (Andria Horton) Goerner, Stephanie Sharp, Seth Sharp, Daniel O’Dell, and Daphney O’Dell; six great-grandchildren, Taylor Pollock, Blade Pollock, Lexi Goerner, Isabella Sharp, Sebastian Sharp and Blake Eugene O’Dell; a brother, Jerry O’Dell; several nieces and nephews; and her companion, Clyde Eck, Sr. of Coudersport.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Paula was predeceased by two step-children, Paul D. Sugden and Roy T. Sugden; and several brothers and sisters.

A memorial service will be held on a date and a place to be announced.

Paula’s family has entrusted her care to the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, PA.
