SHINGLEHOUSE, PA---Peggy Jane Wood, of 124 Oswayo Street, Shinglehouse, PA, laid her burdens down on Tuesday, February 7, 2012.

She was born on December 9th, 1927 to Lawrence and Byrdena Washburn. She was a graduate of Oswayo Valley High School and married James Ivan Wood of Bolivar, NY on January 12th, 1946.

At various seasons of her life, Peggy was actively involved with Civil Defense, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, politics, the Order of the Eastern Star, Firemens Auxiliary, the United Methodist Church, bowling, Euchre, camping, traveling, hospitality, and opening her home to many.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, her sisters, Jacklyn Washburn and Gloria Nichols, and her daughter, Jani Warnick. Surviving are her children, Danny (Angela) Wood of Shinglehouse, PA, Joni Canaan of Duke Center, PA, and Robert Wood of North Richland Hills, TX; siblings, Patricia (Dewayne) Howard of Shinglehouse, PA, Larry (Wilma) Washburn of Towson, MD, Garry Washburn of Huntsville, AL, and Roxanne (Ian) Menzies of Freddiesville, TX; grandchildren, Cari (Jeffrey) Scott, Cody (Stephanie) Wood, Andrew (Kristin) Wood, Christon (Keith) Young, Chad Warnick, Robert Canaan, and Jennifer Canaan; 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 3rd, 2012 at 1pm at the Shinglehouse Volunteer Fire Department hall. The Rev. Clint Pearsall, pastor of Faith Bible Church, Little Genesee, NY, will officiate. A luncheon will follow the memorial. Family and friends are invited.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
