PORTVILLE, NY---Richard D. Quinn, 71, of Portville, formerly of Shinglehouse, PA, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Thursday, June 12, 2025.

Born on Tuesday, July 28, 1953 in Philadelphia, he was a son of John W. and Mildred R. Hammeke Quinn. Richard was a graduate of Olney High School in Philadelphia and received two Bachelor’s Degrees from Alfred Ag Tech, in Wellsville.

Prior to his retirement, Richard was employed by ARA Food Service in Allegany.

Richard was a former member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Shinglehouse. He was former member of the Shinglehouse Volunteer Fire Department and was formerly an EMT when he was a member of the Shinglehouse Volunteer Ambulance Association. Surviving are two brothers, John W. “Jay” Quinn, Jr. of Shinglehouse and Stephen (Donna) Quinn of Philadelphia; a sister, Christine (Brian) Church of West Virginia; and many nieces and nephews.

Richard was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Michael Quinn; and a nephew, Jason Quinn.

There will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Richard’s name may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Richard’s family has entrusted his care and cremation arrangements to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
