Romayne L. Myers “beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother”
COUDERSPORT, PA---Romayne L. Myers, 99, of Coudersport, PA and Lakeland, FL, went to be with the lord unexpectedly with her loving family by her side on Monday, May 19, 2025, in UPMC Wellsboro ER.
Born on Monday, October 12, 1925 in Warren, she was a daughter of William I. and Minnie A. Anderson Sharp. On August 27, 1949 in Warren, she married Norman Richard Myers, who predeceased her on December 18, 2007.
Romayne was a graduate of Warren High School. In her younger years, she was employed at the former Speer Resistor Company in Bradford and later was employed as a switchboard operator for Bell Telephone of PA in Warren and Coudersport. She became a full-time homemaker, upon the birth of their first child.
Romayne possessed a profound faith in the Lord and was a member of St. Eulalia Catholic Church in Coudersport. She was a member of the Coudersport Golf Club where she played until she was 90 years old. She was an avid walker, having averaged 4 miles a day until she was 92. In her later years, she enjoyed running with her pack of friends, word search books, bingo and especially playing Shanghai Rummy. She was an excellent baker and especially known for her homemade pies.
Her greatest accomplishment was that of being a loving mother, wife and grandmother. Her greatest love was for her Lord followed closely by her family.
Left to cherish her memory are a son, Michael A. Myers of Lakeland, Florida; a daughter, Kelly L. Hunter of Coudersport; a granddaughter, Nicole M. (Matthew) Hafer; a grandson, Derrick M. Gleason; three great-grandsons, Tristan M. Hafer, Cameron J. Hafer, and Haydan B. Hafer; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband of 56 years, Romayne was predeceased by two brothers, Elof Sharp and William Sharp; and a sister, Jane Whittaker.
Family and friends may call from 10am to 11am on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, in the Gathering space of St. Eulalia Catholic Church, 6 Maple Street, Coudersport. A Memorial Mass will follow at 11am in the church with Fr. Brian Vossler as Celebrant.
Romayne will be laid to rest with her husband in Sweden Hill Cemetery, Coudersport.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Romayne’s name may be made to St. Eulalia Catholic Church, 6 Maple Street, Coudersport, PA 16915 or the Coudersport Golf Club, 839 Cherry Springs Road, Coudersport, PA 16915.
Romayne’s family has entrusted her care and cremation arrangements to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
