Ruth E. Green      â€œcommended to the Lord”

SHINGLEHOUSE, PA---Ruth E. Green, 91, of Shinglehouse, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, April 29, 2016, after a long illness.
     Born February 9, 1925 in Clermont, she was a daughter of Frederick E. and Lenora M. Freer Murray.  On June 17, 1943 in Shinglehouse, she married Robert “John” Green, who passed away on April 10, 2013.
     Ruth attended the former Honeoye Country School and Shinglehouse High School.  She was employed at the former Olean Tile Plant in Olean, NY, at the former Hi Q Corporation in Olean, and by the former Westons Shoppers City in Westons Mills, NY.  She also hosted Friendly Home parties.
     Ruth was a faithful member of Grace Bible Independent Baptist Church in Shinglehouse, where served as a Sunday school teacher, an AWANA Leader, sang in the choir, and was a leader of the Sunshine Girls.  Ruth was very active in Seedline Ministries, which provided John and Roman testaments that were shipped throughout the world.  Ruth’s greatest love was her Lord and her family.
     Surviving are four children, Cecil E. (Betty) Green of Shinglehouse, Darlene M. (Jack) McCumber of Alma, NY, Gordon O. Green of Shinglehouse, and Doris E. (Daryl) DeMaris of Pettigrew, Arkansas; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris (Gordon) Hawkes of Lecanto, Florida; a brother, Howard (Elna) Murray of Lecanto, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
     In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was predeceased by a grandson, Mark Timothy Crowder, Jr.; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Marie Green; a great-granddaughter, Marnita Darlene Nikkel; two brothers, Irvin Murray and Freddy Murray; and two sisters, Cora Hawkes and Lucile Ellsworth.
     Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday, May 2, 2016 at Grace Bible Independent Baptist Church, 392 Coon Crossing Road, Shinglehouse, where funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Thomas Isaacson, pastor, and the Rev. Roger N. Hain, former pastor of Grace Bible Independent Baptist Church, officiating.  Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Bible Independent Baptist Church, 392 Coon Crossing Road, Shinglehouse, PA 16748.
     Ruth’s family has entrusted her care to the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, PA.
