Sally R. Smith “beloved mother and grandmother”

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa.---Sally R. Smith, 74, of Shinglehouse, formerly of Deep Run, NC, passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, in Highland Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Wellsville, N.Y., after a long illness.
Born on Monday, August 25, 1947, in Kinston, NC, she was a daughter of Felix A. and Vera Clark White. In January of 1966 in Kinston, she married Lonnie D. Smith, who preceded her in death.
Sally was a graduate of South Lenoir High School in Deep Run. She was employed as a clerk for Cove City, NC and later owned and operated a housekeeping and lawn service business.
Sally enjoyed her vegetable and flower gardens. Her greatest love was her family.
Surviving are three children, Susie (Tracy) Smith of Shinglehouse, Lonnie D. “PeeWee” Smith of La Grange, NC, and Scott Smith of Deep Run; a special friend and companion, Walt Pusteria of Deep Run; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Sally was predeceased by a brother, Herman White; and two sisters, Earlene Mitchell and Linda Wethington.
There are no services being planned.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Sally’s name may be made to Highland Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, 160 Seneca Street, Wellsville, NY 14895.
Sally’s family has entrusted her care and cremation arrangements to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, Pa.
