Steven L. Perkins “faithful servant of the Lord”

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa.---Steven L. “Steve” Perkins, 79, of Shinglehouse, passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021, in the Olean General Hospital, Olean, N.Y.
Born on Thursday, May 7, 1942 on the family homestead in Kibbeville, he was a son of Louis A. and Kathryn Yeager Perkins. On April 9, 1961 in Chrystal, he married Karen E. Matthews Perkins, who passed away on April 4, 2005. On May 7, 2006 in Shinglehouse, he married Julie K. Hackett, who survives.
Steve was a graduate of Oswayo Valley High School, Class of 1960, in Shinglehouse, where he was involved with the Future Farmers of America.
Steve was employed by the former St. Gobain Glass Company in Port Allegany, retiring after 46 years of service.
Steve was a longtime member of Grace Bible Independent Baptist Church in Shinglehouse. He was instrumental in the founding and building of the church and was involved in the writing of the church’s constitution. He also served as a deacon, worked in the children’s program, and was very active in the Reformer’s Unanimous program of the church.
Steve was a member of the NRA and the Oswayo Valley Rod & Gun Club in Millport. He was an avid hunter. He enjoyed reloading ammunition and gardening. His greatest love was the Lord and his family.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Julie; two daughters, Rebecca S. “Becky” (Dale) Threadgill of Shinglehouse and Chrystal E. (Roger) Gordon of Turtlepoint; two sons, Joseph M. “Joe” Perkins of Shinglehouse and Benjamin S. “Ben” Perkins of Olean, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Zachary S. “Zach” (Abbey) Threadgill, Isaac T. Threadgill, Sarah E. (Austin) Schapp and Emily R. Gordon; two great-grandchildren, Beauregard Steven “Beau” Threadgill and Jenny Sue E. Threadgill; three step-children, Brendon (Sadie) Enty of Shinglehouse, Colin A. Enty of Port Allegany, and Jaime K. (Josh) Strang of Wellsboro; five step-grandchildren, Liberty M. Enty, Layken C. Enty, Landon W. Enty, Jacoby N. Strang, and Reagan R. Strang; two sisters, Emma (Marc) Lauver of Smethport, and Waneta Snyder of Roulette; a brother, Lynn (Fran) Perkins of Kibbeville; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his first wife, Steve was predeceased by a sister, Gladys Dickerson; and a brother, Louis “Louie” Perkins.
Family and friends may call from 10am to 12 noon on Monday, August 2, 2021, at Grace Bible Independent Baptist Church, 392 Coon Crossing Road, Shinglehouse, where funeral services will follow at noon with Pastor Phil Seely, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Ceres.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Bible Independent Baptist Church, 392 Coon Crossing Road, Shinglehouse, PA 16748.
Steve’s family has entrusted his care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
