WHITESVILLE, NY---Stewart W. “Charley” Edwards, 49, of Whitesville, passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family and friends on Saturday, December 1, 2012 after a long illness.
    Born May 24, 1963 in Okarche, OK, he was a son of William L. and Jessie R. Maidment Edwards.  On February 18, 2012 in Whitesville, he married Carla D. O’Dell, who survives.
     Charley was a graduate of Whitesville Central School, class of 1981 and was a lifelong resident of Whitesville.
      He worked for many years as a carpet/flooring installer.  He was also a carpenter/contractor and for approximately 14 years was employed as a pipeline x-ray technician, most recently for Janxray Services until becoming ill.
     He loved to hunt, fish and camp.  He loved his dog, D.D.  His greatest love was being with his family and friends at Gabby Hayes’ cabin in Wellsville.  He spent time in “Uncle Charley’s garage” where he enjoyed woodworking.
     Surviving besides his wife are his father and stepmother, William and Cathy Edwards of Whitesville; his mother and stepfather, Jessie and Richard Sekoll of Stannards; a special uncle, David E. Edwards of Whitesville; a son, Christopher L. Strope of Oswayo, PA; three stepchildren, Heather (Pete Pollock) Haring of Whitesville, Craig (Michelle Burdick) Goerner of Wellsville, and Joshua Goerner of Whitesville; three grandchildren, Isabelle Strope, Blade Pollock and Taylor Pollock; a sister, Tracie D. Edwards of Coudersport; a brother, Mike W. (Mary Bailey) Edwards of Whitesville; his mother-in-law, Paula Brizzee of Genesee, PA; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
     Friends are invited to attend a celebration of Charley’s life at 2pm on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at the Whitesville Rod and Gun Club, SR 248, Whitesville, NY.
     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to HomeCare and Hospice, Wellsville, NY; the Wilmot Cancer Center, c/o Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, NY; or to the Whitesville Rod and Gun Club, Whitesville, NY.
