SHINGLEHOUSE, PA---Twila M. Sawyer, 70, of Shinglehouse, passed away with her loving family by her side on Thursday, July 31, 2025, in Buffalo General Hospital, Buffalo, NY, after a short illness.


Born on Monday, January 17, 1955 in Bradford, she was a daughter of Ray M. Jr. and Katherine M. Gangemi Dunham. On August 24, 1985 in Hinsdale, NY, she married Richard E. “Dick” Sawyer, who passed away on March 27, 2018.


Twila was a graduate of Olean High School and also was a graduate of the former Olean Business Institute. She spent the majority of her working career in the manufacturing sector. Twila was first employed by the former Acme Electric Company in Cuba, NY and later was employed by Caloric Appliance Company in Topton, Pa. She was last employed by the former Powder PAC in Coudersport.


Twila was a loving aunt who cared deeply for her family and was very proud of all of her nieces and nephews. She was a very active member of Grace Bible Independent Baptist Church in Shinglehouse. She was a proud lifetime member of the NRA. In her earlier years, she enjoyed fishing and hunting. She loved to garden, bake, and can vegetables from her garden. She loved her many cats and dogs throughout her lifetime. Twila was a faithful servant of the Lord.


Left to cherish her memory are two sisters, Josephine “Tudy” Driscoll of Victor, NY and MaryAnn Bridenbaker of Mattydale, NY; a brother, Michael Kranock of Olean, NY; nine nephews and four nieces: Eddy Joe and Patrick Bridenbaker, Jeff, Chris and Jon Kranock, Shawn and Brian Driscoll, Mark and Ray Dunham, Mari Lynne Kranock Howard, Mary Kathleen Driscoll Mansfield, Katherine Dunham Austin, and Christine Dunham; several great-nieces and nephews; and her in-laws, Patricia (Arland) Christ, Dennis (Sue) Sawyer, Thomas (Stacy) Sawyer and many nieces and nephews.


In addition to her parents and husband, Twila was predeceased by a brother, Ray Dunham, III, and a nephew, Michael Bridenbaker, her sister in law Linda Pauley and brother in- law Gary Sawyer.


Family and friends may call from 10am to 12 noon on Monday, August 4, 2025, at Grace Bible Independent Baptist Church, 392 Coon Crossing Road, Shinglehouse, where funeral services will follow at 12 noon with Pastor Phil Seely, officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.


In lieu of flowers, memorials in Twila’s name may be made to Grace Bible Independent Baptist Church, 392 Coon Crossing Road, Shinglehouse, PA 16748 or to Teacher’s Pet Rescue, 19 Blackberry Lane, Coudersport, PA 16915.


Twila entrusted her care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
