Virginia D. Browning       “Shinglehouse, PA native”

HAGERSTOWN, MD---Virginia D. Browning, 98, of Hagerstown, formerly of Leesburg, VA and Shinglehouse, PA, passed away with her loving family by her side on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 in the Golden Living Center, Hagerstown.
     Born April 21, 1916 in Shinglehouse, she was a daughter of William H. and Ethel L. Press Dawson.  She was married to Kenneth A. Browning who passed away in 1978.
     Mrs. Browning was a graduate of Olean (NY) High School.  For many years she was an apartment manager in Leesburg, Virginia.  She was also employed as a bookkeeper for Price Waterhouse in Washington, D.C.
     Mrs. Browning was a life member of the Order Eastern Star in Washington, D.C.  She enjoyed doing ceramics.  Her greatest love was her family and friends.
     Surviving are two daughters, Elizabeth B. “Beth” Webber of Hagerstown and Jeanie Baynes of Harrisonburg, Virginia; four grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
     Mrs. Browning was predeceased by her parents and husband.
     Private committal and burial services will be held in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
     In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mrs. Browning’s name may be made to the Maple Grove Cemetery Association, c/o Merle Graves, PO Box 204, Shinglehouse, PA 16748.
     Mrs. Browning’s family has entrusted her care to the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, PA.
