Virginia L. Hoock                  “beloved wife, mother, and grandmother”


COUDERSPORT, PA---Virginia Lee Hoock, 83, a lifelong resident of Coudersport, passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2025, in Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport, after a long illness.


Born on Friday, March 6, 1942, in Coudersport, she was a daughter of Joseph H. and June E. Hackett Boyd. On July 15, 1961 in Coudersport, she married Charles W. Hoock, who survives.


Virginia was a graduate of Coudersport High School. She was employed as a reading aide at the Coudersport Elementary School. She enjoyed her cats over the years. She also enjoyed bowling, doing crafts, sewing and working in her flower garden.


Surviving are her husband of 61 years; a son, David (Wendy Stevens) Hoock of Coudersport; a daughter, Brenda (Wayne) Varga of Shinglehouse; two grandsons, Justin Taylor and Chad (Tanya) Taylor; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Kathy (Greg) Furman of Bloomsburg; a brother, Greg (Anne) Boyd of Bellfonte; and several nieces and nephews.


In addition to her parents, Virginia was predeceased by a daughter, Janet Taylor; four brothers, Joseph, Daniel, Thomas and Robert Boyd; and her beloved cat, Nicky.


In keeping with Virginia’s wishes, there will be no services.


Our family wishes to thank Wendy Stevens for her wonderful care of our mother for the past five years.


In lieu of flowers, memorials in Virginia’s name may be made to PCAAP (Potter County Animal Assistance Project) at https://www.pottercountyanimalassistanceproj.org/donate because of Virginia’s love of cats or to an animal rescue of the donor’s choice.


Virginia’s family has entrusted her care and cremation arrangements to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
