Virginia E. “Ginny” Steadman       “beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother”

ULYSSES, PA---Virginia E. “Ginny” Steadman, 81, of Ulysses, formerly of Lyons, NY, passed away with her loving family at her side at her home on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 under the care of the Potter County Hospice.
     Born August 16, 1931 in Fillmore, NY, she was a daughter of Clarence A. and Eleanor M. Griggs Steadman.
     Ginny attended Fillmore (NY) High School.  She was the director of the Ulysses Senior Center in Ulysses for 16 years until retiring in 2011 at the age of 79.  
     Ginny was a member of the River Valley Country Club in Westfield, PA. She was a member of the Ulysses American Legion Post 963 Ladies Auxiliary.  She loved to quilt, read, and share on Facebook. She most especially loved to golf and spend time with her family.
     Surviving are a daughter, Judy A. (Jim) Ziegler of Genesee, PA; two grandchildren, Christy L. (Chip) Soule and Robert J. (Rachel) Brennan; three great-grandchildren, Morgan R. Soule, Cooper J. Soule, and Noelle A. Brennan; three adopted children, Diane E. Thompson and Kay C. Lehman, both of Ulysses, and Dennis W. Cowburn of Statham, Georgia; five sisters, Wilma (Norb) Sylor of Fillmore, NY, Dorothea (Hank) Somogyi of Ulysses, Marjorie Kozlowski of Loveland, Colorado, Patricia (Carl) Holmes of Cuba, NY and Althea Martin of Arcade, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
     In addition to her parents, Ginny was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Wendlan.
     At Ginny’s request, there will be no public visitation or funeral services.
     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Patterson Cancer Center, 1001 East Second Street, Coudersport, PA 16915; the American Cancer Society; or to the Willis I. Lewis Memorial Library, 401 North Main Street, Ulysses, PA 16948.
