Vivian A. Harvey                            “beloved mother; devoted volunteer”


CERES, PA---Vivian A. Harvey 86, of Ceres, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, in the Olean General Hospital, Olean, NY.


Born on Wednesday, August 17, 1938 in Chester, she was a daughter of Albert and Dorothy Thompson Stott. On January 19, 1957, she married John N. Harvey, Sr., who passed away on March 29, 2000.


Vivian graduated from Media High School in Media, PA. She was a stay at home Mom until her children were older. She then went to work at the former Century Housewares in Olean and later was employed at the Olean General Hospital in Olean as a radiology technician retiring in 2000.


Vivian was a life member of the former Shinglehouse Fireman’s Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a life member of the Shinglehouse Volunteer Fire Department and a life member of the Shinglehouse Volunteer Ambulance Association, where she served as an EMT and assistant captain for many years.


Vivian loved quilting and was an avid reader. She liked antiques and classic cars. She loved NASCAR and also loved the Buffalo Bills.


Surviving are a daughter, Andrea “Dee” (Ted) Canfield of Ceres, PA; a son, William “Bill” (Valerie) Harvey of Ladson, SC; a daughter-in-law, Diane Harvey of Eldred; six grandchildren, John (Jodie) Harvey III, Brian (Matt) Canfield, Jason (Brandie) Canfield, Corey (Sierra) Canfield, Justin (Ashley) Tassillo, and Jeremy (Leo) Harvey; ten great-grandchildren, Brent, Zain, Brice, Colton, Paige, Katelynn, Paisley, Carly, Allen, and Louis; two sisters, Jill (Chuck) Stradley of South Williamsport and Harriet West of Boothwyn; and several nieces and nephews.


In addition to her parents and husband, Vivian was predeceased by a son, John N. Harvey, Jr.; a sister, Patricia Marsh; and three brothers, Albert “Skip” Stott, Phillip Stott, and Stephen Stott.


Family and friends may call from 10am to 11am on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse, where a celebration of life will follow at 11am. Burial will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.


Members of the Shinglehouse Volunteer Fire Department and members of the Shinglehouse Volunteer Ambulance Association will pay their respects at 10:45am on Wednesday at the funeral home.


Vivian’s family entrusted her care and cremation arrangements to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
