Barbara Wood              “beloved mother and grandmother”

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa.---Barbara “Barb” Wood, 73, of Shinglehouse, passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2023, in Sena Kean Manor, Smethport, after a long illness.

Born on Saturday, January 7, 1950 in Coudersport, she was a daughter of Joseph N. and Evelyn Hunt Herrick.  On April 22, 1967 in Jasper, NY, she married Gary M. Wood, who passed away on May 31, 2016.

Barb attended Oswayo Valley High School in Shinglehouse.  She was employed by the former Service Store (now Park N Shop) in Portville, NY for many years.

She enjoyed doing crafts, including painting and ceramics.  Barb’s greatest love was her family.  When her beloved husband, Gary, passed away her life was never the same.

Left to cherish her memory are three children, Cheryl C. (James) Minderler of Shinglehouse, Lori A. Kinkle of Little Genesee, NY, and Christopher A. (Jamie) Wood of Shinglehouse; twelve grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; a sister, Donna (Steve) Lanager of Little Genesee, NY; and a niece.

Barb was predeceased by her parents and her beloved husband, Gary.

In keeping with Barb’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shinglehouse Volunteer Ambulance Association, PO Box 98, Shinglehouse, PA 16748.

Barb’s family entrusted her care and cremation arrangements to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
