On June 1, 1984, the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home in Shinglehouse was purchased by Kevin J. Dusenbury, Sr., continuing a long tradition of proud service to the Shinglehouse and surrounding areas that was started many years ago by Howard D. Morton and continued by Virgil L. Howard. As we mark 30 years of ownership and service to Shinglehouse and the surrounding communities, our pledge is simple. We will continue to provide the honored and dignified services that we offer to the families that choose our funeral home establishment. With the addition of our son, Kevin J. Dusenbury, Jr., we will be providing the finest in services and facilities that you expect from our funeral home for many, many years to come. We would like to express our greatest appreciation for all of those who have trusted upon us to help in your greatest hour of need. As Albert Einstein stated, “Only a life lived in service to others is worth living.” Like Mr. Einstein, our greatest purpose in our funeral establishment is to help you at your greatest hour of need.
Dear Kevin . . . words alone aren't sufficient to tell you how grateful our family is. Your prompt, warm, friendly and compassionate support these past few weeks while we deal with the loss of Ron meant so much to our family. From coming to the house to make arrangements, sharing stories, and offering your support in many ways - you made an extremely difficult time much more manageable for my mother. For that I will always be eternally grateful. You care about your families as if they were your own. Thank you for being there for us.
