LANCASTER, N.Y.---Betty M. (Stanger) Kemp, of Lancaster, formerly of Shinglehouse, Pa., went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at the age of 95. She was the beloved wife of the late Clarence E. Kemp Jr.; loving mother of Daniel Kemp and wife Catherine, Mary Ellen Heathershaw and husband Gene, Stephen Kemp and wife Barbara, and Gerry Lynn Kemp; and adored grandmother of 5 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Betty was born on May 26, 1927, and graduated from Shinglehouse High School in Shinglehouse, PA. She was married on February 9. 1946, at First Baptist Church in Shinglehouse. She lived in the family home in Lancaster, NY for 63 years. She enjoyed having family, friends, and missionaries on furlough visit her home and share meals, conversation, and laughter. She loved her family and many friends and served people in quiet, behind the scenes ways. She also served Jesus in several churches as pianist, deaconess, nursery worker, in ladies’ missionary society, and in other ways. Betty was a member of First Baptist Church of Marilla, NY.

The visitation and funeral services were held in Lancaster on Thursday, October 6th at the Zurbrick-Amigone Funeral Home in Lancaster with Pastor Paul Decker officiating. Betty was transferred to the care of Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, Pa. Graveside services were held privately on Friday, October 7, 2022, in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse, PA, with Pastor Andrew Heathershaw, grandson, officiating.
