Clifford “PeeWee” Phillips “beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother”

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa.---Clifford “PeeWee” Phillips, 83, of Shinglehouse, passed away in his home with his loving family by his side on Thursday, July 21, 2022, after a long illness.

Born on Thursday, December 29, 1938 in Shinglehouse, he was a son of Edwin E. “Tip” and Mary Ellen Lucille Hackett Phillips. On March 28, 1964 in the West Clarksville Baptist Church, he married Linda K. Lamb, who survives.

PeeWee was a graduate of Oswayo Valley High School, Class of 1957, in Shinglehouse. He was a US Army veteran having served during the Viet Nam War, attaining the rank of PFC.

He was employed by the former Bambi Bread in Olean, N.Y., later by the former Stroehmann Bakeries, also in Olean, and then Nabisco Bakery as a salesman. In August of 1974, PeeWee and Linda moved to Florida where he was employed by Dandee Bakeries as a sales representative and then was employed by American Bakeries Merita in Orlando, where he retired as a route supervisor.

Snowbirds till 2015, PeeWee and Linda made their permanent home in Shinglehouse in 2016. He attended the Bell Run Union Church in Shinglehouse. PeeWee was a 50 year plus life member of the Shinglehouse Volunteer Fire Department, where he had been a past president and past vice president. He was a member of Shinglehouse American Legion Post 530. He loved deer hunting, stock car and NASCAR racing, horse pulls, clambakes, and sweets. In his younger years, he enjoyed roller skating, especially at the Coliseum in Ceres, N.Y, where he met the love of his life, Linda. His greatest love was his family.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years; a son, Tim E. Phillips of Shinglehouse; a daughter, Kimberly Phillips Udstad of Shinglehouse; three grandchildren, Norman A. (Josie) Udstad IV, Wyatt D. Udstad, and Faith A. (Phillip “QB”) Steinmetz; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Beverly “Sue” (Joe) Riehle of Shinglehouse; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, PeeWee was predeceased by a sister, Kay Hanes; and a brother-in-law, James Hanes.

There will be no public visitation. Private funeral services will be held in the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, with Pastor Chad E. Shaffer, of the Bell Run Union Church, Shinglehouse, officiating.

Private burial services will be held in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse, with members of the Potter County Honor Guard according full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shinglehouse Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 475, Shinglehouse, PA 16748 or the Shinglehouse Volunteer Ambulance Association, PO Box 98, Shinglehouse, PA 16748.

PeeWee’s family has entrusted his care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
