Edith I. Keech       “loving Mother and Grandmother”

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa.---Edith I. Keech, 93, of Shinglehouse, passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, in Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport.

Born on September 24, 1928 in Franklinville, N.Y., she was a daughter of John P. and Delma Bettinger Jones. She was married to Claude H. Keech, who passed away in 1979.

Edith graduated from Shinglehouse High School. She owned and operated the former Keech’s Garage in Shinglehouse for many years.

Edith enjoyed antique shopping, scratching lottery tickets, watching baseball, watching Dr. Phil, Perry Mason, and Channel 4 news. She especially loved her big black cat who sat in bed with her faithfully. Her greatest love was her family.

Left to cherish her memory are three grandchildren, Dennis R. “Denny” (Kelly) Keech, Jr. of Shinglehouse, David R. (Tara) Keech of Shinglehouse; and Kelly A. (Randy Blackmon) Keech of Palm Harbor, Florida; five grandchildren, Kayla (Thomas) Gross, Kendal Keech, Kaleb Keech, Brevin Austin, and Charlotte Austin-Keech; five siblings, Harold L. (Marsha) Jones of Wellsboro, Violet L. (Fred) Mohr of Carter Camp, JoAnn (Tom) Weitzel of Shinglehouse, John P. “Foggy” (Mary) Jones of Oswayo, and Darold L. Jones of Portville, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Edith was predeceased by her son, Dennis R. “Denny” Keech, Sr., who passed away on June 1, 2022.; and six siblings, Ruby Johnson, Warren Jones, Eileen Sugden, Beatrice Mosso, Earl Jones, and Ross Jones.

There will no public visitation or funeral services. Burial will be in Wells Cemetery, Oswayo.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the SPCA Serving Allegany County, PO Box 281, Wellsville, NY 14895.

Edith entrusted her care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
