Harry F. Fox Sr.   September 30, 1939 – November 25, 2023

ODIN, PA----Harry Fox Sr. passed away at his home in Odin on Saturday, November  25, 2023, surrounded by his family.  Born in Spangler, PA he moved to Odin, PA after his father was discharged from the Army following WWII.  He attended the Austin School, leaving there in the 10th grade when he believed there “was nothing more they could teach him”.  On November 22, 1957 he married his wife Blanche “Peg” Garman who survives.  Harry enlisted in the US Army in 1958, serving time in Germany and stateside where he was in the Operating Engineers 535th.  Following his honorable discharge from the Army, he became a lifetime member of the Operating Engineers Local 66 where he operated heavy equipment.  Throughout his life he also had several side businesses including K&B Construction and was a local dealer for Harmon Wood Stoves and Mahoning/Freedom Outdoor furnaces.

For the last many years, the avid hunter, jokester and storyteller, could be found visiting with friends at his farm and enjoying a draft or two out in the garage.  Left to share their memories while also enjoying a draft or two in the garage are his wife Peg, their daughter Peggy (Duran) Knapp, Harry “Bucky” (Cindy) Fox, Kathy Fox and Stan (Tammy) Fox, nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.  He was predeceased by his parents Ray and Dorothy Fox, his sister and brother-in-law, Jackie and Cecil Toombs, his brother and sister-in-law Tom and Bonnie Fox.

Friends and family are invited to join together for a celebration of Harry’s life where we will share stories, tell jokes and tip back a draft or two like dad would want from 4pm to 8pm on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at the Coudersport American Legion, 2 Buffalo Street, Coudersport. A service will be held at 4:15pm with the Rev. Todd Lamer, pastor of God’s Country Church, Austin, officiating.

Members of the Potter County Honor Guard will accord military honors at the Legion on Saturday following Pastor Lamer’s service.

In lieu of flowers and in keeping with Harry’s wishes, please send a donation in his name to Teacher’s Pet Rescue, 19 Blackberry Lane, Coudersport, PA 16915 or anyone running against the current administration in the next Presidential election.

Harry’s family entrusted his care and cremation arrangements to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
