Jane C. Nicholas                “beloved companion”

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa.---Jane C. Nicholas, 70, of Shinglehouse, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 15, 2023, in the Olean General Hospital, Olean, NY.

Born on Tuesday, December 30, 1952 in Easton, she was a daughter of Stewart and Phyllis Chamberlin Ruch.

Jane was a graduate of Bangor High School, Class of 1971, in Bangor, Pa. She was employed as a school bus driver for STA-Krise Bus Company in Bangor and also had been employed as a school bus driver for David Ebeling in Shinglehouse.

Jane loved her cats and dogs. She was an avid gardener and loved studying the Bible. Jane took care of and fed Bwana Jim’s many animals while he was away doing his shows.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving companion of many years, Leo J. Colgan of Shinglehouse; a daughter, Janine (Stephen) Mulane; a granddaughter, Morgan; two sisters, Rebecca (William) Turner and Catherine (William) Teter; an aunt, Lou Ann (James) Dotty; an uncle, Tom (Joyce) Chamberlin; and several nieces and nephews.

Jane was predeceased by her parents.

Family and friends are invited to attend graveside burial services at 1pm on Thursday, October 19, 2023, in Plainfield Cemetery, Wind Gap.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jane’s name may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Jane’s family entrusted her care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
