Lois A. Kellogg                             “beloved mother and grandmother”

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa.---Lois A. Kellogg, 86, of Shinglehouse, went to be the Lord, with her loving family by her side, on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, in the Olean General Hospital, Olean, N.Y., after a short illness.

Lois was born on Saturday, June 19, 1937 in Presque Isle, Maine.

She completed her high school education at Defiance College in Defiance, Ohio. Before moving to Shinglehouse, approximately 38 years ago, Lois was employed as a surgical assistant at Defiance Hospital in Defiance.

Lois was a member of Grace Bible Independent Baptist Church in Shinglehouse. She loved painting, woodcarving, and her flower gardens. Her greatest loves was her trust in the Lord and her family.

Left to cherish her memory are four children, Marvin F. (Deb) Rethmel of Cohocton, N.Y., Janalee A. (Dave) Steinberger of Defiance, Mark A. (Rachel) Rethmel of Oakwood, Ohio, and Mitchell (Judy) Rethmel of Vonore, Tennessee; twenty-four grandchildren; fifty-nine great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Lois was predeceased by a son, Michael A. Rethmel; and a brother, Carleton Black.

Family and friends may call from 9am to 11am on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Grace Bible Independent Baptist Church, 392 Coons Crossing Road, Shinglehouse, where funeral services will follow at 11am with Pastor Phil Seely, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Bible Independent Baptist Church, 392 Coons Crossing Road, Shinglehouse, PA 16748 or to the Shinglehouse Volunteer Ambulance Association, PO Box 98, Shinglehouse, PA 16748.

Lois’ family has entrusted her care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
