Robert J. “Bobby” Starr
COUDERSPORT, Pa.---Robert J. “Bobby” Starr, 70, of Coudersport, passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022, in Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport, after a long illness.
Born on Friday, September 7, 1951, in Philadelphia, he was a son of Leonard J. and Elizabeth A. Cunius Starr.
Bobby attended school in Philadelphia. In his younger years, Bobby was employed as an orderly in Mercy-Douglas Hospital in Philadelphia.
In the early 1990’s Bobby, along with his mother and brother, Francis, moved to Bradford. After his mother passed away, Bobby lived in Evergreen Elm in Bradford, working at Futures.
Bobby was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Bradford and a former member of the Knights of Columbus in Bradford. A friendly, gregarious man, Bobby enjoyed socializing at the Fire Department and the Police Department in Bradford. He loved wearing western clothes and his cowboy boots. In his younger years, he enjoyed 4-wheeling.
Surviving are a sister, Peggy (Bill) Morgart of Coudersport; three nephews, Jerry (Janel Haynie) Fink, Jr. of Coudersport, William Morgart III of Erie, and William Morgart IV of Coudersport; a niece, Lisa (Nigel) Guest of Anchorage, Alaska; a grandniece, Josie Fink; and all his caregivers over the years at Sweden Valley Manor in Coudersport.
In addition to his parents, Bobby was predeceased by a brother, Francis Starr.
Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at the gathering space at St. Eulalia Catholic Church, Coudersport with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 11 a.m. in the church. The Rev. Thomas Brown, pastor of St. Theresa Catholic Church, Shinglehouse, will be celebrant. Burial will be in the Eleven Mile Cemetery, Crystal.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bobby’s name may be made to the Sweden Valley Manor Patient Activity Fund, 1028 East Second Street, Coudersport, PA 16915.
Bobby’s family has entrusted his care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
