SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa.----Sharon L. Baker, 78, of Shinglehouse, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, in UPMC Susquehanna Williamsport, after a long illness.

Born on Tuesday, January 11, 1944 in Olean, N.Y., she was a daughter of George R. and Geraldine L. Foote Washburn

Sharon was a graduate of Oswayo Valley High School, Class of 1962, in Shinglehouse.

She was employed as a pharmacy technician at the former St. Francis Hospital in Olean, N.Y., until her retirement.

She was a member and past matron of Eureka Chapter #52 Order of the Eastern Star in Shinglehouse, a member of the former Shinglehouse Fireman’s Ladies Auxiliary, and a life member of the Shinglehouse American Legion Post 530 Ladies Auxiliary. In her younger years, Sharon enjoyed bowling, having attended many Lilac Tournaments in Rochester, N.Y. She enjoyed knitting and drawing. She loved playing pranks on family and friends, but her greatest love was her family.

Left to cherish her memory are three sons, Gerald “Jerry” (Lorraine) Mitchell and Tim Mitchell, both of Shinglehouse, and Rod (Elizabeth) Mitchell of Portland, Oregon; four grandchildren, Reno (Mandy) Mitchell, Lexi (Phil) Gardner, Brianna (Matt) Bonnin, and Owen Mitchell; four great-grandchildren, Rowan Mitchell, Otto Mitchell, Ensley Gardner, and Rowan Gardner; a sister, Georgia Babcock of Gasport, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by three sisters, along with their husbands, Sue (Vic) Washburn Taylor, Wanda (Bernie) Buckhart, and Dolores “Dee Dee” (John) Dillon; and a brother-in-law, Irwin “Bud” Babcock. She has been reunited with her faithful companion, Georgie Boy.

A special thank you to those she appreciated and to those who appreciated her at Sweden Valley Manor in Coudersport.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11am on Saturday, November 12, 2022, in St. Theresa Catholic Church, Puritan Street, Shinglehouse, with the Rev. Thomas Brown, as celebrant.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shinglehouse Volunteer Ambulance Association, PO Box 98, Shinglehouse, PA 16748.
